Maarlab is transforming the tourism model

Workspaces

Objective

Maarlab asked the studio led by Vanessa Mora, MARENGO espacios y formas, to create a distinctive space that would add value to the brand, with capacity for 15 people and the potential to expand to 17 when required. An exclusively-used premises situated on a high street in the city centre, originally very compartmentalised, with outdated fixtures and fittings and little natural light, which the interior designer and her team were tasked with transforming into an attractive and versatile space.

The idea was that the headquarters should accommodate a variety of working styles (individual, team-based, collective, focused, expansive, etc.) and be responsive to the great diversity of nationalities and cultures within its team.

Solution

To accommodate the wide variety of needs and dynamics of staff – whether permanent, temporary or working under a hybrid model – who come to Tenerife on a temporary basis, drawn by the destination and the opportunities offered by a project such as Maarlab, the space is divided into five distinct areas: the entrance hall, two open-plan workspaces, an area for exchanging ideas, and a relaxation and socialising area. In addition, there is the CEO’s office, which is a private room situated within one of the workspaces.

The furniture, wall finishes and layout of the elements bring a wide variety of nuances in colour, texture and form, right from the entrance, where a yellow Longo armchair welcomes visitors beneath a graphic design featuring the company’s name. Staff can move about freely and choose whether to sit at workstations equipped with Arkitek desks and Efit chairs, or gather in functional and informal corners for relaxation or meetings, where furniture such as the Prisma and Tabula high tables, the fold-away Talent table or the round Arkitek side table; the Noom and Wing stools and chairs, or the Caddy 500 movable panels with integrated video, offer endless possibilities and allow the layout to be changed with minimal effort.

The new space has been the catalyst needed to rekindle in staff and teams the desire to return to working on-site, without compromising performance or losing any of the benefits gained from remote working during the pandemic.
