Maarlab is transforming the tourism model

Workspaces

Objective

Maarlab asked the studio led by Vanessa Mora, MARENGO espacios y formas, to create a distinctive space that would add value to the brand, with a capacity for 15 people and the ability to expand to 17 when needed. An exclusive-use space located on a shopping street in the downtown area—originally very compartmentalized, with outdated facilities and little natural light—which the interior designer and her team were tasked with transforming into an attractive and versatile space.

The idea was for the office to accommodate various work styles (individual, team-based, collaborative, focused, expansive, etc.) and to be responsive to the great diversity of nationalities and cultures within its team.

Solution

To accommodate the wide variety of needs and work styles of employees—whether permanent, temporary, or working in a hybrid model—who come to Tenerife on a temporary basis, drawn by the destination and the opportunities offered by a project like Maarlab, the space is divided into five distinct areas: the entrance, two open workspaces, an area for exchanging ideas, and a space for relaxation and unwinding. In addition, there is the CEO’s office, which is enclosed and located within one of the workspaces.

The furniture, wall treatments, and layout of the elements offer a wide variety of nuances in color, texture, and form, starting right at the entrance, where a yellow Longo armchair welcomes visitors beneath a graphic design featuring the company’s name. Employees can move freely and choose whether to sit at workstations equipped with Arkitek desks and Efit chairs, or gather in functional and informal corners—whether for relaxation or meetings—where pieces such as the Prisma and Tabula high tables, the fold-down Talent table, or the round Arkitek side table; the Noom and Wing stools and chairs, or the Caddy 500 movable panels with integrated video, offer endless possibilities and allow the layout to be changed with minimal effort.

The new space has served as the catalyst needed to rekindle in employees and teams the desire to return to the office, without compromising performance or losing any of the benefits gained through remote work during the pandemic.
